The early season swing for the PGA Tour hits overdrive this weekend when it heads to the Monterey Peninsula and the most famous golf course in America, Pebble Beach.
Hideki Matsuyama opened the month with a win at the The Sentry, Nick Taylor won the Sony Open, Sepp Straka won The American Express, and Harris English won last week at the Farmers Insurance Open.
Matsuyama is the fifth-ranked golfer in the world, but none of the other winners are inside the WGR top-20. However, this is Pebble Beach, one the crown jewels of the PGA Tour’s West Coast Swing, and it will be the best field of the young season.
Making his 2025 debut is last year’s PGA Tour Player of the Year, Scottie Scheffler. The world’s No. 1 golfer was going to play at PGA West and The American Express, but a Christmas dinner accident in his kitchen has kept him sidelined until this week. Scheffler needed minor surgery to remove glass from the palm of his hand, but now he is healthy and ready to go.
Joining Scheffler at Pebble Beach is the No. 3 player in the world, Rory McIlroy, who on Monday played against Tiger Woods in the TGL and lost in overtime. No. 4 Collin Morikawa will be there, as will eight of the top 10 ranked players in the world, and all 10 of the FedExCup top 10 point leaders.
AT&T Pebble Beach Betting Odds to Win
Scottie Scheffler (+400)
A year ago at Pebble Beach, Scheffler finished tied for sixth. He may have a little rust, having missed the last month of golf, but this is no cut event. Even if he struggles early, Scheffler will likely be around to make a late move.
Rory McIlroy (+1100)
McIlroy has had a busy golf calendar in the early part of the year, but Pebble Beach will be his PGA Tour debut in 2025. He’s not been particularly good at the AT&T – he finished 66th last year – but when Pebble Beach hosted the U.S. Open in 2019, McIlroy finished ninth.
Justin Thomas (+1400)
Justin Thomas finished T6 last year at the AT&T, and at The American Express two weeks ago, he was the runner-up. In December at the Hero World Challenge, the last tournament played by Scheffler, Thomas finished third.
Collin Morikawa (+1400)
Collin Morikawa finished second at The Sentry to open the year, his third runner-up in his last 10 PGA Tour events. Last year at Pebble Beach, he finished T14.
Patrick Cantlay (+1800)
Patrick Cantlay has been one of the most consistent performers at Pebble Beach over his career. In his last four starts at the course, he has gone T11, T4, T3, and T11. In two starts this season, Cantlay was T15 at The Sentry and T5 at The American Express.
Ludvig Åberg (+1800)
Ludvig Åberg was the co-leader through 36 holes last year at Pebble Beach before eventually finishing the tournament as the runner-up. He was T5 at The Sentry this month, and finished T42 at the Farmers Insurance Open after opening with a first-round leading 63.
Hideki Matsuyama (+2200)
Matsuyama recorded his 11th PGA Tour win earlier this month, following up on last season, when he won two tournaments. He was 21st at the U.S. Open held here in 2019, and last year in his first start at the AT&T Pro-Am, he finished T71.
Sungjae Im (+2500)
Sungjae Im hasn’t won on the PGA Tour since 2021, but he did finish third at The Sentry and T4 at the Farmers Insurance Open last week. Last year at Pebble Beach, Im finished 66th.
Wyndham Clark (+5000)
The defending champion at the AT&T Pro-Am is Wyndham Clark, but he is a longshot to defend his title at +5000. He also won the U.S. Open in 2023. This season, Clark missed the cut at The American Express, but he opened the season with a strong T15 at The Sentry.
