The NBA season is over, the NHL season will end in no more than two games, and the Major League Baseball All-Star break is just three weeks away. That means that it’s almost time for us to fully turn our attention to the NFL and its training camps.
First Camp – Baltimore Ravens
Last year, the Baltimore Ravens were in the AFC Championship Game, but just fell short of making it back to the Super Bowl for the first time in 11 years. They will be the first team to open camp in July, with rookies reporting on July 13, and veterans in camp on July 20.
The Ravens are the second betting favorite to win the AFC and make it to Super Bowl LIX, paying +500.
AFC Favorite Camp Dates
The Kansas City Chiefs have played in four of the last five Super Bowls, winning three of them, and they have appeared in six straight AFC Championship Games. Their quest to be the first to win three straight Lombardi Trophies begins with rookies in camp on July 16, and veterans reporting on July 20. The Chiefs are +300 to win the AFC, and the favorite at +550 to win the Super Bowl.
A healthy Joe Burrow has the Cincinnati Bengals at +700 to win the AFC. Tee Higgins has now signed his franchise tag, and it will be all systems go when the Bengals open camp on July 22 for rookies and July 23 for vets.
The Buffalo Bills are also +700 to win the AFC, and they will welcome rookies to camp on July 16, and vets on the 23rd. The Houston Texans are +850 to win the AFC, and C.J. Stroud opens his second camp on July 17, when both rookies and veterans report.
NFC Favorite Camp Dates
The San Francisco 49ers were the NFC champions last year and an NFC Championship Game participant the year before. They are +250 to win the conference again this year, and they will open their camp in Santa Clara on July 16 for rookies, and the 23rd for veterans.
The Detroit Lions played in the NFC Championship Game last year for the first time in 32 years, and they are +550 to win the NFC for the first time in franchise history. That quest begins on July 20, when rookies report, and July 23, when vets arrive to camp.
The Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys are both +700 to win the NFC – the Eagles have the edge in the division, +115 to +130 – and they open camp on consecutive days. All of the Eagles report on July 23, and all Cowboys report on July 24.
The Green Bay Packers are +800 to win the NFC, and they open camp in Green Bay on July 17 for rookies, and July 21 for veterans.
Rookie Quarterback Camps Dates
First overall pick Caleb Williams opens his first camp with the Chicago Bears on July 16. The +135 favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year will be joined by his entire team on July 19.
Jayden Daniels is the second betting favorite to win OROY at +550, and he opens Washington Commanders camp in Ashburn, Virginia, on July 18. The entire team is in camp on July 23.
Former Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy has a camp battle ahead of him with former No. 3 overall pick Sam Darnold. McCarthy is +1500 to win Offensive Rookie of the Year, and he reports to Minnesota Vikings camp Jul 21. Darnold will be in camp by July 23, with the rest of the veterans.
Rookie QB Bo Nix is +1800 to win OROY, and he reports to Denver Broncos camp on July 17. The Broncos vets will be there on July 23. No. 3 overall pick Drake Maye is +2500 to win OROY, and he will be at New England Patriots camp on July 19. The veterans will report to new head coach Jerod Mayo’s first camp on July 23.
New Head Coaches
Along with Mayo in New England, there are seven total new head coaches in the NFL.
Raheem Morris opens camp with the Atlanta Falcons on July 24. Dave Canales is the first-time head coach with the Carolina Panthers, and he opens camp with the rookies on July 19 and the vets on July 23. Jim Harbaugh comes back to the NFL with five career playoff wins, and he and the Los Angeles Chargers open camp on July 16 for the rookies, and July 23 for the vets.
Mike Macdonald begins the post-Pete Carroll era with the Seattle Seahawks, and they open camp on July 17 and 23. Brian Callahan has replaced Mike Vrabel with the Tennessee Titans, and all of the Titans will report to camp on July 23. And when the Commanders open camp on July 18, former Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn will be the man in charge.
